Be it the composed demeanor, regal lifestyle, family loyalty, or just all that warmth and love, the Royal couple are goals for all of us… it’s always nice to read about them—where they dine, what they wear, what are their hobbies, their take on political issues. They make the headlines in every country they visit as well; they are adored across the globe, and why not, they’re the blue-blooded British Royals after all. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton have been giving us #CoupleGoals for 16 years now so, wouldn’t you like to revisit their fairytale story, one quick snapshot at a time?
Kate was only 19 when the Prince spotted her walking the ramp in a strapless sheath dress and permed hair—she regrets some of her fashion choices; don’t we all? It was love at sight for the Prince. They began dating soon after and were engaged within three years…
…Remember Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring that was passed down to Kate, and oh, the beautiful wedding where Middleton wore a custom Alexander McQueen gown? (Sigh)
Before the couple got together, Kate Middleton was working for Jigsaw as a buyer but post her engagement, she quit to fill in the shoes of Princess Di. With her new title, Duchess, came a host of duties, social appearances, and benefits and causes that Middleton took under her wing.
Soon after the wedding, the royal couple set out on expeditions to visit foreign delegates as a part of their responsibilities. These foreign visits are not like the average Joe and plain Jane’s vacation. They’re packed with meetings, conferences, and activities.
Did you know, the royal couple never hold hands on their foreign visits? In fact, there are many dos and don’ts when it comes to conduct and decorum if you’re a royal and Kate and William always ensure they stay within the guidelines. Tabloids pick up pictures of these visits and claim the couple is going through a ‘hard time’ for the lack of better news. Forget the gossip and take a look at the royal couple on their visit to India having a good time (…as happy couples do).
A lot of thought is put into their outfits to flatter and complement the cultural values of the countries they visit. We love following the Duchess’ style which blends high street buys with designer threads effortlessly. She manages to create a similar confluence on her travels abroad. The colour palette of her wardrobe is very British, the hems, cuts, and styles are modestly royal, and she pays an ode to the country she’s visiting by way of a statement accessory, or an item of cultural significance (ethnic prints in India, and the maple leaf brooch in Canada).
Fun Fact: The couple love skiing and they’ve been spotted not once, but multiple times being aww-dorably cheesy snow bunnies even before they were engaged—just look at them goofing around in this photo. As an activity or on the sidelines cheering their favourite teams, look for the duo in the VIP section at sporting events; you might just get lucky.
Finally, we come to their adorable kids, George and Charlotte (we’re sure you’re smiling). Born within a gap of two years, the cuties are always dressed impeccably thanks to Kate, we’re guessing. The picture from Princess Charlotte’s christening is as perfect as a holiday card with William suited up in a royal blue and Kate tipping her hat to the royal family with her wardrobe choices.
