Christmas time calls for bringing some serious A game to your fashion choices. You’ve prepped your Christmas catch up with the girls outfit, your Christmas party outfit and your Christmas day outfit but don’t forget to accessorize! If there’s any season that calls for statement accessories, it’s Christmas. Here are our favourite accessories you can catch last minute to make your outfit dazzle.

Winter Warming Scarves

To keep the chill off your neck and make your outfit look even more fabulous, you’ll need a gorgeous scarf. Play on all the classic Christmas colours and textures and you know you’ll need at least three for the whole season. A great way to split your styles is to choose one fur stole (faux of course!) one woollen or cashmere number and finally one silky square style neckerchief you can keep on indoors.

Obviously a fur stole in an unnatural colour will make a vivid statement but one in natural colours will be easier to pair with more ensembles and ultimately making it more versatile. Look for furs heavy on texture with long fibres for the perfect effect. Your woollen should be all about the specs. High quality wool will keep you warm and if you’re prone to itching, opt for softer lamb’s wool or a cashmere blend. These scarves look best in block colour in a long length that you can wrap around your neck multiple times for a chunky finish. For a European look, opt for a tonal pairing with your go to Winter coat. Finally, your silky neckerchief is all about adding print to your look. Jewel tones are great for Christmas and monochrome options will see you through the whole year.

Blinging Necklaces

Every fashionista should have a few statement necklaces to instantly upgrade a blouse or dress during the holiday season. While designer jewellery encrusted with gems look phenomenal, chunky costume jewellery will achieve just as great a look if you’re on a budget.  We’re loving the gold and turquoise colour trend this season, ideal for adding a pop of colour. Don’t forget, that scarf you’re wearing will come off once you’re indoors so don’t forgo a statement necklace!

Over-sized Rings

The ideal accompaniment to your statement necklace is an over-sized, bedazzling ring. Wearing one on your pointer finger makes a fashion forward statement, while opting for your ring finger sends a more sophisticated vibe. Allow your ring to demand all of the attention by keeping any rings you wear on a daily basis to a minimum.

Quirky rings are trending this season with motifs and animal themed pieces dominating however simple metal designs and large centre jewels are timeless so there’s a style for everyone.

Brooding Brooches

Once considered Nana’s accessory of choice, brooches are making a vintage come back. Just like rings, pop art, kitschy brooches are trending alongside more classic styles meaning you don’t have to be a fan of vintage clothing in order to rock a brooch this season. Choose your favorite motif whether it’s a dragonfly or a lipstick and clip that baby on. Brooches are most commonly worn on coat lapels but don’t be afraid to mix it up. Try placing it on the bottom hem of your jacket instead, particularly if it’s animal themed, giving some movement, as if the creature is creeping up your outerwear. As well as coats and jackets, brooches can also upgrade any hat or headgear in seconds and if it’s lightweight, even on the pocket or collar tip of a stiff shirt.
