After making its grand debut in the accessories segment, brand Balmain is being ushered into the makeup space with a first of its kind collaboration with cosmetics giant L’Oreal Paris. Yes, this is epic, game-changing, heart racing, mindblowing, and all of the above, again and again.
Coming this September is a limited edition of L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipsticks designed, packaged, and paletted by none other than Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing.
Both brands took to their Instagram pages to create intrigue and give sneak previews of the collaboration, and within minutes it was a trending headline.
About The Balmain x L’Oreal Paris Collection
One Color Riche lipstick is sold every three seconds, so imagine a Balmain edition of the same. The limited edition collection will host 12 L’Oreal Paris lipsticks based on three primary colours (we’re guessing pink, red, and nude).
Also, there will be three collectible shades which will be part of the ‘jewel edition’—a limited edition within the limited edition (so fancy, right?)
The Balmain x L’Oreal Paris collection will be released in September along with Paris Fashion Week because Rousteing insists he wants to, “…bring the couture to cosmetics”. Needless to say, we’re expecting lots of nude shades courtesy Olivier’s close ties with the Kardashians, and edgy packaging because that’s inherently Balmain’s style.
Iconic Makeup By Fashion Houses
While the Balmain & L’Oreal Paris makeup collection is only a collaboration, there are many fashion houses that have forayed into the beauty space and managed to create cult products. We hope at some point Balmain does the same and gives us a line-up of black lipsticks, purple eyeliners, and jewelled highlighters. Until then, we’re investing in these iconic makeup products by fashion houses:
Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat Limited Edition Concealer, £25
Dior Diorskin Nude Air Tan Powder, £39.50
Tom Ford Deep Flamingo Lip Color, £40
Givenchy Gelée D’Interdit Lip Gloss, £22.50
Chanel Lift Lumiere Fluide Foundation, £42
