Still reeling in from the excitement of the fresh and new LV packaging, we’re surprised the French fashion house released yet another headline-worthy announcement so quick. And yes, it’s a big one.
After 70-long-years, Louis Vuitton is all set to unveil a line of seven fragrances under the Les Parfums Louis Vuitton range, and it almost feels like a first from the fashion house. The hiatus left quite the void, but we’re glad LV, like all the other luxury fashion houses, is ready to bottle its essence in a collectible flacon.
Yes, it smells like LV indeed. Master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud, the same genius that gave us Poême by Lancome, Cinéma by Yves Saint Laurent, and Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey, has been roped in to capture the essence of the fashion house; and, it smells like a success already!
Rose des Vents, Matière Noire, Mille Deuz, Apogée, Turbulences, Dans la Peau and Contre Moi, are the seven alternates from the range. They run the whole spectrum, really—floral essences of May rose (centifolia) and jasmine from Grasse in France, and even the unique scent of leather that LV uses to cover the handles of their trunks and handbags. None redundant, all extraordinary with a very distinct sophisticated buyer in mind.
As for the flacon, the contemporary magnetic lid makes its way on to transparent bottles with black letter labelling and Louis Vuitton etched on the face. Much like people buy their bags because they’re so iconic, we imagine the perfumes would be no different thanks to Marc Newson’s aesthetic design.
PS: If you’re looking to get your hands on a pick from the coveted range, show up with £180 (100ml) to the LV stores after September 1. Good luck trying to get your hands on one. 🙂
