Hello Lovelies!

It’s that time of the week when we introduce you to someone amazingly creative and unique… In the hunt of the same we got in touch with Christie Geiger, a fashion aficionado and the founder of The Closet by Christie.

The Closet by Christie is a personal style and fashion blog which is an ultimate style guide for the everyday woman! You can find everything from how-to style guides to what’s trending. The Closet by Christie helps you liven up your life with great everyday style and build a positive, fashion-forward community where all women can be inspired by the world of fashion.

Let’s hear from Christie…

1. What was the driving inspiration behind starting The Closet by Christie?

The Closet by Christie actually started as a portfolio to enhance my resume. After I graduated from college, I wasn’t living the life I’d dreamed of. I had always loved fashion and writing, so a blog was the best way to enjoy both even though I wasn’t working in the fashion industry like I had wanted. At first, I loved it so much that I didn’t even care if anyone ever read it! I had never realized how much I actually knew about fashion and styling. About six months in, I attended Lucky Magazine’s Fashion & Beauty Blogger Conference (Lucky FABB) and it was a total game changer. I met some really amazing friends and learned that I could turn my blog into a business. From that point forward, The Closet by Christie became an entrepreneurial passion project and I’ve been actively blogging for 5 years now.

2. How would you describe your own personal style?

My personal style is feminine and classic with a modern twist. I love dressing up, even on a regular day. You can always find me in a skirt or a dress with heeled booties or pointed-toe flats. I also love feminine accents like bows, lace, and anything that sparkles. An interesting thing I learned about my personal style from my readers is that it’s considered modest. I always wear what I’m comfortable in and I never really noticed that I was modest until I started interacting with my readers. My blog has a pretty strong Mormon following!

3. The biggest style lesson you’ve ever learned?

There are no rules in fashion! You can wear anything you want, whether it’s “in style” or not. As long as you love it, your inner confidence will shine through. If you’re uncomfortable, even the trendiest outfit won’t suit you.

4. Share the secret recipe of how you allure your everyday look?

To put it simply, always accessorize! For women that want to get into fashion, I always recommend investing in cool statement accessories. Adding a cute hat, a poncho, or a statement necklace to an outfit of basics will give you that effortlessly trendy look. Another important tip is to learn more about your body type and the silhouettes that look best on you. The book The Science of Sexy by Bradley Bayou changed my life! With this knowledge, you’ll never spend more than 5 minutes in a dressing room.

5. What are your 5 must have fashion items that you can’t survive without?

1- Cape
2- Statement necklace
3- Block heeled ankle booties
4- Little black dress
5- Dark wash stretch jeans

6. Tell us 3 things that stands high on your fashion bucket list.

1- Host coverage of New York Fashion Week for top designers
2- Expand my personal styling into a full-time business
3- Own a classic Louis Vuitton bag

7. What pieces do you love investing in and why?

I love investing in the classic pieces that you know you’ll use for years and will never go out of style, like blazers, little black dresses, basic black pumps, etc. Sometimes you can actually save money if you invest in the right quality pieces that you’ll wear often.

8. A current beauty trend that you absolutely love?

I’m all about the full, dark brow right now!

9. Name your 5 favorite fashion Brands/ Designers? What is it about their designs that appeals to you maximum?

1- Kate Spade because it’s cute, feminine, and fun
2- Zara because it’s chic and stylish
3- Express for the everyday trends and office-wear
4- Ralph Lauren because of the classic designs and intricate, detailed outerwear (they have the best military style jackets)
5- Chloè because it’s feminine with clean lines

10. What do you think is going to be the big fashion hits for next season?

Ruffles and interesting sleeves are going to continue to be big trends, along with the color blush and metallic accessories. You’re going to start seeing more corset and lace-up style pieces, even for the office.

11. What are your go-to online resource for style inspiration? Who is your style icon?

The amazing thing about fashion is that it’s everywhere. I’m inspired throughout my everyday life by other people, bloggers, television shows, social media like Pinterest & Instagram, and even emails from my favorite retailers. I love checking out the new arrivals on my favorite brands websites to help me stay ahead of the curve when it comes to trends and what’s to come. My style icon is definitely Lauren Conrad. I love her pretty, feminine style and she’s so down-to-earth.

12. Name 3 other fashion blogs you religiously follow and absolutely love.

Straight A Style, Sandy a la Mode, and Atlantic-Pacific. It’s hard to narrow down to just 3! I love so many other blogs, too.

13. Let’s conclude off with a few favorites.

• Color: Blush
• Trend: Cape
• Brand: Kate Spade New York
• Dress: A-line
• Foot-wear: Chunky heeled boots
