Brands are still rolling out SS17 campaigns and we never tire of nature-inspired floral vines, or references made to the Garden of Eden. But, if you’re talking about creating the perfect moment, a campaign that reels you in with its mystique and dreaminess, then the Jimmy Choo SS17 edit wins hands down!
And, they win on many counts: The first, what a novel take to have Dakota Fanning as the face of the campaign. The American actress has a British aesthetic that vibes well with JC’s sense and sensibilities. She plays the part of the English Rose to perfection. Also, her porcelain skin and never-ending legs prove to be the perfect canvas for the brand’s hand-stitched Lolita sandals. Basically, the camera loves her, and so do we!
Dakota has such a nuanced and sophisticated understanding of fashion. Unafraid to push boundaries and wear something unexpected. I love seeing someone explore fashion with such maturity and self-assuredness.” —Sandra Choi, Creative Director
Also ticking all the right boxes is how they’ve worked Fanning’s quirky yet romantic personal style with the season’s campaign and product selection for the shoot. Set across the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, Dakota looks absolutely hypnotic in sheer layers of lilac and bright pops of eyeshadow; you almost expect to see a unicorn come out from the fold.
And, when it comes to the merch, is there any doubt that you’ll be lusting after them all season? Fragrances and accessories aside, it’s Jimmy Choo’s bags and shoes we love most. This edit’s winners, apart from the Lolita sandals (Dakota’s favourite, along with the Miami low-top trainers), would have to be the Hummingbird Printed Lockett Petite shoulder bag, the Kathleen mirror and leather suede platforms, and the Lockett Minaudiere acrylic clutch. A special mention to the very glamorous Gem sunglasses decked with Swarovski crystals, because what’s summer without the perfect pair of sunnies, right?
We leave you with the Behind The Scenes video. It’s almost like a dream sequence you wish would never end:
