We’ve almost come to expect H&M’s collaboration with a high-end designer every year mid year. And a casting coup, it always is. Karl Lagerfeld, Maison Margiela, Versace, Lanvin… these are just some of the biggest fashion houses that have designed an exclusive line for the high street H&M. After the brilliant response to the Swedish retailer’s collaborative collection with Kenzo last year, the only way they could’ve topped it is to rope in yet another heavyweight, celebrity-favourite designer for 2017.
Kate Middleton, Michelle Williams, Keira Knightley, Marion Cotillard, Claire Foy all love and have opted for clothes by the British brand for their red carpet appearances. So, wouldn’t you want a piece of the sparkle, especially when it’s at an affordable price and at the H&M store near you? Well, you’ll have to wait until November 2 like the rest of us.
Erdem For H&M
While only a teaser video for the collaboration has been revealed, it’s a visual treat and we all have genius film maker Baz Luhrmann to thank for it.
The other big exciting news? Erdem will be doing his first-ever men’s line, and of course, womenswear will be part of the offering as well.
I am so happy to collaborate with H&M, and to explore my work on a whole new scale including a menswear collection which I have never done before. It’s also such a thrill to work with Baz Luhrmann, one of the most important storytellers of our time.”
Visuals from the teaser throw up strong references to nature, florals, rich velvets, animal prints, and even sequins, as both the models run into the garden facing away from the camera. The wearable collection also appears to include sleepwear and outerwear, so we can expect Erdem for H&M to be a complete capsule collection.
“From the moment we started talking with Erdem about the collaboration, I was captured by his vision. For ERDEM x H&M he has created an enchanting world full of beauty, delicacy and rich details. These are special pieces you will want to wear forever.”
