Now that we’re coming up to the end of November, it’s certainly getting cold outside. Gone are the days where we could head out of the door in just one layer – and no jacket – now we need chunky knits, winter woollies, and coats galore!
Whether you’re heading out to a smart casual evening event, or just want something to wear for every day, we’ve got all your fall knitwear needs covered.
The chunky, cable knit cardigan.
Bdg Frankie Chunky Knit Cardigan, £42.00
A key staple for this Autumn/Winter 2017 based on designer catwalks such as Burberry and Christopher Kane, the chunky, cable knit cardigan is back.
We’ve recently spotted them all over the high street in an array of colours. If you want to play it safe, why not opt for a classic black or cream hue that will go with almost any outfit. Alternatively, you can go for a more fashion-forward colour, such as brick red or baby pink, taking inspiration from designer catwalks such as Alexander McQueen and Lanvin.
Simply throw yours on over jeans and a long sleeve top for A/W 17 casual chic.
The roll neck jumper.
Alex Roll Neck Batwing Jumper, £110.00
What better way to feel warm in the cold weather than in a soft, cozy jumper? Another designer favorite from the A/W 17 catwalks, it’s time to welcome the roll neck into your wardrobe.
From fitted pieces in Autumnal hues at Pringle of Scotland to woolly, oversized pieces at Joseph, the roll neck is one of the jumpers to be seen in this season.
If you’re going for a tight-fitted version, pair it with a miniskirt, tights, and boots to tap into the 60s influence of A/W 17. Alternatively, if you prefer the oversized look, you can rock it with wide-legged trousers and metallic shoes to showcase this season’s sci-fi trend.
The knitted above-the-knee dress.
Ermanno Scervino Wool Rib Knit Dress, £510.00
A fashionista favorite for the Autumn/Winter season, the knitted above-the-knee dress has returned once again.
You can go for a plain, understated version like R13, and dress it up with knee-high boots and statement jewellery. Or, you can choose a multi-coloured, printed version like Chloe and dress it down with leggings and trainers.
This type of knitted clothing also looks fabulous in the office if one of your colleagues happens to leave the window open!
The slogan jumper.
Noisy May Tall Slogan Sweater, £12.00
Slogan jumpers are currently all over the high street. A key trend in menswear for A/W 17, it has somehow managed to transcend over to womenswear. We think a lot of ladies are borrowing their man’s jumper and retailers have started to take note!
Whether you decide to invest in a jumper that states numbers, like your birth year for example, or go for a full-on quote – we’re loving these expressive pieces of fashion!
Simply team your slogan knit with your favorite pair of jeans and ankle boots for a cute, snugly look that lets your jumper do the talking.
The long-line cardigan.
Theory Maxi V Neck Cardigan, £304.73
Longer length anything is hot right now in the fashion world – especially in the form of outerwear. Blazers, coats and cardigans – you name it – if it comes below the knee, then you’re doing it right!
One thing that we’re loving about long-line cardigans, in particular, is the variety available on the market. Not only do they come in a range of aesthetically-pleasing hues, but you can fasten them in a multitude of ways. Buttons, waterfall-style, or belted – there’s a style to suit everyone and every occasion.
Our current favourite look is a long-line, button-up cardigan, with high-waisted leather trousers and an oversized long sleeve top, for a fun, smart casual look that plays with shapes and texture.
The great thing about knitwear is that it suits any body type and complexion. No matter what kind of knit that you opt for this season, why not experiment with different outfit combinations to create unique and original looks.
Oh, and make sure you bundle up! Baby, it’s cold outside.
