louis vuitton spring summer 2017 collection

It’s worth saving up for, especially when it looks this good. And, that’s the note we’re going to kick-off with to prepare you for the big reveal of Louis Vuitton’s latest collection. Because, once you’ve seen what Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière has to offer, there’s no way you’re not going to want a piece of the brand’s Spring-Summer 2017 collection.

LV’s Heroine This Season
She’s a true Parisian. Departing from the throes of his athletic Rio-inspired collection from last season, Nicolas goes back to the brand’s roots and makes Paris his muse. Now, you may think every other designer does so at one point or another, but it’s the interpretation that makes all the difference. After all, the fashion capital with all its sartorial references and rich artistic heritage has a lot to offer.

This collection is for the leading lady who appreciates the art of dressing in the truest sense—making a statement, expressing her individuality, affording her the pleasures of the finer things in life… there’s so much more that the shirt on your back stands for.

The Clothes
Working women, rejoice! LV just upgraded corporate styles to sci-fi level with jersey dresses that move, come belted to accentuate your waist and add tons of glamour by way of cut-outs that always keep things classy.
Also, there’s a form for every kind of girl on the go—exaggerated shoulders for androgyny, cape style sleeves for a strong statement, femininity in off-the-shoulder silhouettes, and faux-wrap constructions for when you want to keep it casual.

It’s all in the tailoring, really. Elegantly reining in all the motion, drama, peek-a-boo cuts, and sheer panels are the constructions of the garments that ingeniously use big lapels, high necks, streamlined structures, and box pleats to streamline everything.

Never Without Our Bags & Boots
Arm candy in the truest sense, Louis Vuitton does a fine number on the house’s iconic bags like the Petite Malle, Twist PM, GO-14 MM Malletage, and mini trunk styles. The Damier checks, the lock clasps, geometric designs, and luxurious quilting are all high points from LV’s Spring-Summer 2017 bag edition.

But, the real clincher is the combat boot which continues to trend on in 2017 as the brand adds a pointed heel in each to dictate the way forward. The leather boots are mainly in calf-length styles, unlike ankle-length versions that dominated the landscape earlier. What we love most is how LV creates half-and-half contrasts, making the boots look like they’re having a party in the front, but mean business in the back.

Sunnies & Bling
What’s Spring-Summer without sunglasses? But, when the shades look this good, we don’t care what season it is. Canvassed in gold, rose quartz, purple, blue, and grey are gradient lenses on metal and acetate frames that end in dual-toned stems. These sunnies will make you want to book that summer holiday, pull the top down in the car, head to the beach to see that sunset, and wear them just because you can!

Might we recommend pairing them with some gold baubles from the collection? Bling, shimmer, crystals have all been in the trend forecast for 2017, and we’re loving how LV’s chosen to accessorise Summer with chunky gold jewellery moulded into interesting shapes.

This season, we’re saving up to be an LV girl, even if it means just getting our hands on one of the many must-haves from the brand’s SS2017 collection. Are you?
